Description:

A simple and effective volumetric lighting solution compatible with all platforms: Windows PC, Mac OS X, Linux, WebGL, iOS, Android, VR, Oculus Quest, AR, Consoles, Embedded/legacy render channel, SRP (URP & HDRP)!

>> Channel rendering compatibility <<

All versions of the plugin support Built-in Render Pipeline (BiRP), Universal Render Pipeline (URP) and High Definition Render Pipeline (HDRP). More information.

Continuously updated asset: tested in every new release of Unity, 60+ updates in the last 5 years with new features and optimizations.

The perfect, easy and cheap way to simulate density, depth and volume for your spotlights and flashlights, even on mobile!

It dramatically improves the lighting of your scenes by automatically and efficiently generating truly volumetric procedural light beams to render high-quality lighting effects.

Two different implementations of the volumetric light beam, each optimized for specific use cases:

– SD Beams (legacy beams) are super fast with limited features (no true volume shadow or cookie support): they are optimized to run on mobile and standalone VR (Oculus Quest).

– HD Beams offer more advanced features (real volumetric shadow and cookies), but are more performance intensive: should only be used on high-end platforms (PC and consoles).

>> Production ready plugin proven with amazing released games that showcase it <<

BONEWORKS released for high-end PC VR

– Carly and the Reaperman released for Playstation 4 PSVR, Oculus/Meta Quest and high-end PC VR

– Kingspray Graffiti released for high-end PC VR and Oculus/Meta Quest

– Released Receiver 2 for high-end PC VR

– Hexagroove released for Nintendo Switch

– Cloud Gardens released on Steam

– subROV: Underwater Discoveries will be released on Steam

– Covert released for Playstation 4 PSVR, Oculus Rift and Oculus Go

>> Properties <<

– Supports volume shadows and volume cookies (HD rays).

– True volume: works even if you are INSIDE the beam of light.

– Incredibly easy to use and integrate / instant import / zero setup required.

– In addition to the built-in Legacy Render Pipeline, it fully supports Universal Render Pipeline (URP) and High Definition Pipeline (HDRP).

– Optimized for VR: tested with high-end headsets (Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Valve Index…) and standalone hardware (Oculus Go, Oculus Quest…), supports all stereo rendering methods (Multi Pass, Single Pass and Single Pass or Multiview Instances).

– AR Ready: supports both Apple iOS ARKit and Google Android ARCore.

– GPU Instancing & SRP Batcher: render and batch thousands of rays in 1 single stroke.

– Super FAST and low memory consumption: requires no post-processing, command buffers or compute shaders:

works great even on low performance platforms like Mobiles and WebGL.

– Procedural generation: everything is dynamically calculated under the hood.

– Add unlimited light beams everywhere: alternative solutions usually only require real-time lights:

this plugin doesn’t. You can make the baked light voluminous or even add rays without any light at all.

– Supports many graphics variants: Deferred and Forward rendering path, Gamma and Linear color space, HDR colors, multiple blending modes.

– Highly configurable (layers, markers, render queue, sorting and order of 2D layers in a layer, shader pass…).

– Dynamic 3D Noise function to simulate animated volumetric fog/fog/smoke effects.

– Volume dust feature to simulate highly detailed dust lights and mote effect.

– Dynamic occlusion: light beams can be blocked by moving 3D geometry or 2D sprites.

– Trigger Zone function: you can track objects passing through light beams.

– Fully dynamic: change or animate all properties during gameplay from the storyboard, animator or timeline, move and rotate light beams in real time.

– Contains a very cool collection of running effects that easily animate your light and/or beam with effects like strobe/blink and pulsate/blink.

– Advanced features: full light color temperature support, HDRP camera exposure support, seamless intersection and blending with geometry and camera.

– Works with perspective and orthographic cameras out of the box.

– Supports Unity’s built-in fog.

– WYSIWYG: every edit is immediately visible in the scene view: no need to switch between editor and playback mode to see your changes.

– Full source code available / no DLL. Light beam setup and manipulation is fully exposed through a powerful API. – Detailed documentation.

– Supports from Unity 2018.4 to latest versions 2019.X, 2020.X, 2021.X, 2022.X and 2023.X.

– Including sample scenes.

“Illuminate your scenes with Volumetric Light Beam v1.98, a powerful tool designed to add breathtaking, realistic lighting effects to your projects.
